Diseases caused by mosaic viruses are characterized by leaves mottled with a mosaic of yellow, white, and green spots. They include for example Cucumber mosaic virus and Tobacco mosaic virus.
How to treat?
- Biological
If possible remove and destroy the infected plant. Burn it or toss it into the garbage. Do not compost.
- Disease prevention
Disinfect tools, infected flower pots, and hands to avoid disease transmission.
Use resistant species and cultivars as well as healthy, certified seeds and seedlings.
Eliminate potential disease carriers (e.g. aphids and leafhoppers).
Soak seeds in a 10% bleach solution before planting.
