Amaryllis 'Belinda'

ABOUT

Hippeastrum 'Belinda' is a relatively large variety of the Hippeastrum genus of agriculturally grown flowering bulbs, commonly referred to as amaryllis. Its long and sturdy stem typically grows to a height of 23 to 35 inches and has large, dark-green, lance-shaped leaves that tend to grow up to 20 inches long and 6 inches wide. At the top of the stem, the flower bud grows forth in an egg-like shape and is initially cream colored with deep pink veins throughout. As the bud begins to open, the flower can be described as large and showy, with five to eight waxy petals that resemble a trumpet shape. The flower's petals start out white but soon develop into a light to medium pink with a darker, magenta-red color surrounding them at the ends. The center of the flower holds a prominent, bright yellow star-shaped stigma that is often surrounded by several small greenish-yellow stamens.
